
Meerlust estate, which traces its history to 1693 and has been owned by the Myburgh family since 1756, recently hired Chris Williams, 35, as winemaker. The move, which follows the retirement of longtime winemaker Giorgio Dalla Cia last year, heralds a major stylistic shift for an estate that produced tannic, structure-driven wines under Dalla Cia's 25-vintage stewardship.
