Top estates produced dense, exotic wines in this hot vintage, but watch out for inconsistency

Rhône lovers have plenty to look forward to, despite a current rough patch for the region. While releases from the rain-plagued 2002 vintage are of little interest (though there are some fine whites), the 2003 vintage, still in barrel, is an entirely different story and may deliver some of the most exciting wines in recent history.
