The Grand Award Banquet on Saturday night closed the Wine Experience with its usual mix of fine wine, good food, Wine Spectator honors and wild entertainment. Napa vintners Jim and Barbara Richards accepted the 2003 Wine of the Year award for their 2001 Paloma Merlot—at 95 points, the highest-rated California Merlot ever and a value at the release price of $45.
