What makes one wine different from another bottling produced on the other side of a stone wall? Or on the other side of the world? Often, vintners wrestling with these queries proffer the same response: "soil." But scraping beneath the surface reveals even more questions. There's much yet to be learned about the dynamic interplay between vines and earth.
