Best Barrel Ever

In the June 15, 2004, issue of Wine Spectator, a letter to the editor asked how I could possibly rate a wine so high out of barrel (the 2001 Viader Napa Valley, with a projected rating of 92—94 points) and then so "low" as a finished wine (84 points).
