Auction Index Down 1 Percent in the First Quarter of 2004

Bordeaux yields mixed results while Port records unusual gains

The first quarter of the auction season is usually a quiet period, with fewer sales and fewer bottles on the block than during the pre-Christmas crush. In the past two years, the Wine Spectator Auction Index has fallen in the first quarter, and 2004 results were no different.
