Auction Index Up 8.5 Percent in Fourth Quarter
Index value has almost doubled since initiation
The Wine Spectator Auction Index rose from 182 to an all-time high of 197 in the fourth quarter of 2003. Viewed another way, the average price of the wines listed in the index has virtually doubled since the database was created in the fourth quarter of 1995.
