In the world of wine, bottles of the latest Gaja Langhe Sperss and Sorì San Lorenzo sometimes seem as hard to come by as tickets to the Super Bowl or an aisle seat at the Oscars. The chance to taste some of those Italian legends, produced in tiny amounts and selling for hundreds of dollars a bottle, was incentive enough for the more than 1,100 wine lovers who jammed the ballroom on Friday afternoon.
