Beyond Nebbiolo
Alternative reds from Piedmont
You don't have to buy expensive Nebbiolo in order to experience the greatness of the 2000 vintage in Piedmont. Dolcettos and Barberas from this 100-point vintage -- and from the excellent 2001 vintage -- are now on the market, and these reds can usually be had for a fraction of the price of the Barolos and Barbarescos.
