So who says the prognosis is grim for the California wine industry? Certainly not Dallas entrepreneur Craig Hall and his wife, Kathryn, who are diving headfirst into an ambitious wine operation. Backed by the financial muscle of a business empire worth more than $1 billion, they've already spent $34 million -- nearly all of it in cash -- on a production facility and four properties with 276 acres of vineyards.
