
Rutherglen, in the hot, far reaches of Victoria, must rank as one of Australia's sleepiest wine regions. Even on the weekend of the Rutherglen Legends dinner, a major wine event honoring local winemakers each November, there's more activity in the pubs along the lightly traveled main street than in the winery tasting rooms.
