
This past June, I drove to Bolgheri, Tuscany's famous coastal wine region, for a meeting with Angelo Gaja and Guido Rivella. Rivella, Gaja's esteemed winemaker, poured me a glass of red wine, a dark, youthful blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc called Camarcanda, a slight variation of the name of their new winery in the region, Ca' Marcanda.
