Wine Spectator Auction Index Sheds 6 Points in Second Quarter

First-growth Bordeaux demonstrates strength in an otherwise sluggish period

The Wine Spectator Auction Index fell 3 percent in the second quarter of 2003, moving in the opposite direction of the Dow Jones industrial average, which rose 12 percent during the same time frame. Although most categories of wine experienced a slight downward drift, first-growth Bordeaux actually bucked the trend, rising 8 percent overall.
