Australia's wineries are the wizards of Oz: They can create enchanting wines and sell them for amazing prices. Maybe that's why American wine lovers have fallen under their spell. In 2002, Australia passed France to become the second-largest exporter to the United States (after Italy), according to Impact Databank, increasing exports by 50 percent from 2001 to ship us more than 12 million cases of wine.
