First Sales of the New Year Spell Success

Fine wine markets reflected more optimism than did their financial counterparts in January. Buoyed by a 6 percent increase in the value of the British pound since December, London prices for classified clarets held firm, and percent sold rates rose up to 20 percent above those for the final quarter of 2002.
