Feb. 18, 2013 CLOS ST.-JEAN Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes 2010 (93 points, $55)

Densely packed, but deliciously racy, with linzer torte and blackberry confiture notes coursing along, supported by mouthwatering toasted anise, roasted apple wood and graphite notes. The long finish flashes a Turkish coffee edge but remains silky overall. Best from 2015 through 2025. 750 cases made. —James Molesworth
