Wonderful aromas of pressed flowers and blackberries with hints of cinnamon. Full-bodied, with a jammy, big fruity style and a long caressing finish. Chewy though. This shows splendid structure. As good as the 1997. Best after 2009. 1,080 cases made. High —James Suckling

Incredible amount of fruit and character in this wine with mint, mineral, blackberry and plum aromas. Then turns to tobacco and tar. Full-bodied, with an iron-cast core of fruit and velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Incredibly tight and powerful. G —James Suckling

The nose of this wine smells like crushed Nebbiolo with hints of fresh flowers and Indian spices. Full-bodied, with incredibly round, soft tannins. It beckons you to drink it. Long and velvety finish. Voluptuous. Azelia has come into its own. Serve this —James Suckling

Amazing aromas of plums, strawberries, and minerals follow through to a full-bodied palate, with ultraripe tannins and a long mineral, blackberry aftertaste. Gorgeous. So fresh and structured. Best after 2010. 1,050 cases made. Collectible. From Italy. —James Suckling
