More than $30

Jun. 01, 2004: CHATEAU DERESZLA Tokay Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2000 (96 points, $62/500ml)

Terrific Tokay. Floral, quince and apple aromas take on honey, peach and mineral accents in the mouth, all displayed on an ethereal, lighter-than-air frame. Bracing acidity is deftly integrated into the whole, and it ends with a mineral aftertaste. Drink —Bruce Sanderson

May. 31, 2004: PROVENANCE Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2001 (92 points, $35)

A deliciously rich and generous wine that's also well-structured, with layers of spicy currant, cedary oak and hints of mocha and chocolate forming the core flavors. Finishes with big, rich, mouthcoating tannins and a persistent aftertaste. Best from 2005 —James Laube

May. 26, 2004: MARQUIS D'ANGERVILLE Volnay Champans 2001 (93 points, $45)

Ultraconcentrated fruit in this fantastic '01. Impressive full texture, rich and ripe, but also racy and elegant, a bit oaky on the nose but absolutely packed with black fruit and sweet tannins on the palate. Lovely, balanced finish. Should improve with a —Per-Henrik Mansson

May. 22, 2004: BEAUX FRÈRES Pinot Noir Willamette Valley The Beaux Frères Vineyard 2002 (95 points, $75)

Big and ripe, a mouthwatering wine with tingly acidity bringing harmony to a wash of plum, blackberry, cherry and dusky spice flavors, which persist on the fine-grained, not terribly tannic finish. Drink now through 2012. 2,599 cases made. Highly Recommen —Harvey Steiman

May. 20, 2004: GROS FRÈRE & SOEUR Grands Échézeaux 2001 (93 points, $125)

Aromatic, offering floral, cherry, spice and a touch of game, then concentrated, ripe fruit on the palate. It's all backed by a vivid structure and ripe, well-integrated tannins. Terrific finish. Seductive 2001 Burgundy. Drink now through 2015. 200 cases —Bruce Sanderson
