Wonderful aromas of flowers and ripe fruit that turns to undertones of Indian spices. Full-bodied, with chewy yet round tannins and a long exotic fruit aftertaste. Hard not to drink the whole thing. Wonderful. New winery for me. Best after 2007. 450 cases —James Suckling
Not much aroma, then the flavors kick in on the palate, exuding apricot, orange, lemon and vanilla cream. Very concentrated, this tastes like a botrytis selection. It's impressive, if lacking a little in finesse. Best from 2006 through 2025. From Germany. —Bruce Sanderson
Extremely complex red on the nose with raspberries, berries, spices and cedar. Full-bodied, with super elegant tannins and a long, long finish. A real beauty. Best after 2006. 380 cases made. From Piedmont, Italy. —James Suckling
Gorgeous nose of black currant preserve and freshly roasted coffee, with a powerful, yet very silky palate of cassis, plum, blackberry, loam, mineral and dark chocolate flavors that glide through a superlong finish. Don't be deceived by its seeming access —James Molesworth
Fresh and exotic aromas and flavors of apricot, mango and pineapple remain well-defined in this spry and airy '03. Not as concentrated and rich as some of its peers, but harmonious and graceful. Drink now through 2015. 200 cases made. From Germany. —Bruce Sanderson
