More than $30

Mar. 09, 2013: CHÂTEAU PALMER Margaux 2010 (96 points, $360)

This is riveting, with terrific tarry grip coursing underneath layers of smoldering bay leaf, warm plum confiture, freshly brewed espresso, dark cassis and well-steeped black tea. The charcoal and tobacco backdrop is gorgeous and should move forward through the core of fruit over time. Be patient though, as the structure is ironclad. This will really be electric once mature. Best from 2017 through 2040. —James Molesworth

Mar. 08, 2013: FRANK FAMILY Petite Sirah Napa Valley SJ Vineyard Reserve 2009 (93 points, $65)

This red shows vivid wild blackberry notes at the core, with nice intensity and purity, accented by underbrush, pepper, sarsaparilla and licorice grace notes. Starts plush, but the dense tannins firm up on the finish. Drink now through 2020. 724 cases made. —MaryAnn Worobiec

Mar. 07, 2013: SCHRAMSBERG Late Disgorged 150th Anniversary Napa-Monterey-Mendocino Counties 1997 (94 points, $200)

Rich, sleek and beautifully mature, offering bold aromas of roasted hazelnut and fresh pear tart, with complex flavors of baked apple, candied orange zest and white chocolate. Finishes with a lacy texture. Drink now through 2017. 147 cases made. —Tim Fish

Mar. 06, 2013: CHÂTEAU LA GRAVE À POMEROL Pomerol 2010 (94 points, $55)

Broad and creamy, with plum, boysenberry and blackberry fruit carried by seamless, polished structure. Despite the lush flavors, this is serious a wine, boasting a strong graphite spine that strides through the finish and lovely flecks of anise and black tea hanging in the background for added range. Should age well. Best from 2015 through 2030. —James Molesworth

Mar. 05, 2013: BODEGAS ALTO MONCAYO Garnacha Campo de Borja 2009 (93 points, $45)

The espresso, toasty vanilla and licorice flavors are dark and sweet in this rich red, which features linzer torte, fig pudding and dried cherry flavors, with a plush, generous texture and soft, thick tannins. An extreme style, but sensuous and appealing. Drink now through 2015. 1,000 cases imported. —Thomas Matthews
