Lush and lengthy, with lemon zest, honeysuckle, almond and pear flavors that move languidly through the cream-textured palette. A nice mineral hint lends definition to the finish. Drink now through 2006. 3,775 cases made. From the Rhône, France. —James Molesworth

Jan. 20, 2005: DR. F. WEINS-PRÜM Riesling Spätlese Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Graacher Himmelreich 2003 (90 points, $25)

Lovely. Vibrant, elegant and full of peach and lime notes, this remains balanced and flavorful from start to finish. It borders on mango and guava before ending with a juicy sensation. Drink now through 2015. From Germany. —Bruce Sanderson

Jan. 19, 2005: CASA LAPOSTOLLE Merlot Colchagua Valley Cuvée Alexandre 2002 (89 points, $19)

Nice mix of red and black fruits here, with ambitious chocolate and toast as well. Chunky texture and notes of dried herb and cocoa powder take over on the finish, which shows concentration but could use a touch more polish. Still, quite tasty. Drink now —James Molesworth

Jan. 18, 2005: JAKOBY-MATHY Riesling Kabinett Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Kinheimer Rosenberg 2003 (90 points, $16)

Herb and mineral aromas and flavors hold sway in this elegant, lightweight Riesling. There's a lip-smacking quality here, though the acidity seems low, ending with a crisp, tactile sensation. Drink now through 2009. From Germany. —Bruce Sanderson
