Sep. 10, 2005: MATTHIEU COSSE Cahors Le Petit Sid 2001 (88 points, $18)

Boisterous and muscular, with a meaty aroma and intense raspberry, red cherry and currant flavor. Long, chewy finish, like biting into a crisp nectarine. Drink now through 2008. 600 cases made. —Kim Marcus

Sep. 09, 2005: LUCIEN BARROT & FILS Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2003 (88 points, $30)

A rather fresh and easygoing '03, with raspberry and black cherry fruit fronting grilled herb and mineral hints on the finish. One to drink while you wait for the other '03s to soften. Drink now through 2010. 5,830 cases made. —James Molesworth

Sep. 08, 2005: DE TRAFFORD Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch 2002 (90 points, $30)

Sleek, with lots of blackberry, fig, and currant fruit supported by layers of Kona coffee and tar. Stays fresh through the finish despite its concentration. Delicious. Better than previously reviewed. Drink now through 2007. 126 cases imported. —James Molesworth

Sep. 07, 2005: FRANÇOIS CAZIN Cour-Cheverny Le Petit Chambord Vendanges Manuelles Cuvée Renaissance 2002 (90 points, $22)

Lovely aromas of lemon verbena, pear and pickled ginger lead to a crisp, nervy white with racy floral, mineral, honey and paraffin notes. Long, filigreed finish picks up a touch of sweetness, yet stays crisp. Drink now through 2008. —James Molesworth

Sep. 06, 2005: LES VINS DE VIENNE Coteaux du Languedoc Transhumance 2003 (91 points, $30)

This big powerful red has an aroma of Asian spice and is loaded with flavors of raspberry, anise, red plum and spice. Plenty of structure in this as well, with a finish filled with peppery and meaty notes. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2006 th —Kim Marcus
