Well, it started off with a bang! An extended period of heat here in California got things ripe quickly. The Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon from Tofanelli Vineyard in Napa Valley, for Orin Swift's Veladora bottling, are in and look great. We’re picking Zinfandel from the Sierra Foothills and Oakley Vineyards in Contra Costa County. The yields are very low, but the fruit looks and tastes amazing. We’ll get some Merlot next week and probably be going for a while after that. It’s supposed to cool down a little bit, but they’re saying it may be a warm September. So far things look great.
