I received an e-mail over the weekend that should interest all of you. But please do not rush out right away and buy what I am going to tell you about. There will just be too much competition out there. It could turn to nothing less than rioting or some other form of civil or cyber disobedience.
What I am about to divulge is perhaps one of the most outrageous wine offers that any of us could possibly think of. And it is what the sender—a U.S.-based fine and rare wine supplier—is calling a “SHOWCASE CELLAR.” And I know all of you want a showcase cellar – whatever that may be!
Furthermore, “Serious inquiries only,” the e-mail says. But we are all serious people. So, yes we qualify.
I know that money is short for most of us. Daily life has become more expensive, even more so for the sad few of us that have alimony and private school fees! And then there are the negative equity mortgages or money lost to banksters at various financial institutions around the world. And of course, the bailouts and trillions of dollars of debt we Americans are all going to have to pay for in taxes over the rest of our lives.
But forget all that. If you didn’t get the email, here is the insider information they are offering: “Tired of your stocks losing money? Now is the time to invest in wine - like one of our clients said: 'I'm investing in wine right now because the prices are down, and they are sure to go back up. Plus, if they don't, I can always just drink it! And you can't drink stocks!'"
I am in! I am making this once-in-a-lifetime investment. Forget Madoff, Stanford and the rest of them when I can make easy money with this wine investment.
I mean $8.5 million for 104 methuselahs of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from the consecutive vintages of 1989 to 2003 is not to be missed. And it includes a methuselah of each vintage from each of the domaine’s key vineyards.
If I can't sell them later for a big FAT profit, I will, indeed, take their advice and drink it all with my friends.
The only problem is that I am short about $8.5 million to make the investment. Maybe I can speak to Congress about it, or did the stimulus package already go through? Surely, there was something in there for wine investing?
