I don’t see too many first-growth investors on my blog…. Good thing.
But the fact is that there are many out there. My friend in Hong Kong has customers who have bought 25 cases of 1982, or 30 cases of 1990 Latour. And so on. I don’t think it is all for current consumption! Also, I know a number of wine funds in London that are investing $4 million or $6 million in Bordeaux, which one day will be sold at auction or through other avenues.
I think there are a lot of first growths out there from top young vintages that have not found their final owner yet. And I wonder when the corks will be pulled.
I find it all a little scary. Don’t you?
