Me talking with Jean-Michel Cazes, the owner of Lynch-Bages and a number of other châteaus, about the quality of 2005. He has been making excellent wines for decades now.
“Everyone is talking about 2005 as if it is another 1982,” I said.
“That’s like comparing a dish rag to a napkin,” he said. “You can’t compare it to 1982. It is so much better than 1982,”
I am not great at comparing linen, but I know my wines. And after tasting close to 250 wines already, I think Jean-Michel may be right.
