Tasting Beat: Guest blogger
My name is Andrew Carmellini, and I am a native of Seven Hills, Ohio, and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. I got my start in New York at San Domenico restaurant, and then headed to Italy to cook at the Michelin two-starred San Domenico in Emilia-Romagna. Back in New York, I was a chef de partie at Lespinasse in the St. Regis hotel, and later was named sous chef at Le Cirque, all the while completing numerous stages in England and France and traveling throughout the United States in search of the best regional cuisine available.
In 1998, Daniel Boulud hired me to cook at Café Boulud, a position that I held for six years before leaving to open A Voce, where I serve seasonal Italian food that reflects what I have learned in Italy and elsewhere in the world. You can read more about A Voce at our website, www.avocerestaurant.com.
