Wine Spectator Ratings Now Available Via Cell Phone

The Mobile Companion allows diners and shoppers to search the magazine's entire database of wines

Wine lovers can now access Wine Spectator's wine ratings and vintage charts when they're on the go, whether they're dining out or shopping. The magazine has teamed up with Airborne Entertainment, a leading mobile publisher, to offer wireless access to its more than 140,000 scores and tasting notes via cell phone.

The Wine Spectator Mobile Companion is an easy-to-use service that's perfect for anyone who has ever wanted to check a wine's quality or style before making a selection from a restaurant wine list or a retail shelf. While every issue of Wine Spectator contains the editors' latest wine ratings, the magazine's full archive of reviews has until now been available only on its Web site, to subscribers to Wine Spectator Online.

On the Mobile Companion, Wine Spectator's full database of ratings is searchable by keyword or category, broken down by country or region, wine type, vintage, price and score range. The list of wines generated is further clickable to see the complete tasting note. The vintage charts are also searchable by country, region or wine type. The database is regularly updated with new wines from each issue of the magazine.

Currently, Wine Spectator Mobile Companion is available for $5.99 a month to Verizon Wireless customers with Get It Now-enabled phones. Versions of the service for other cell-phone carriers are expected to be released later this year.
