CLOS ST.-JEAN Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes 2005 (93 points, $45)
Quite ripe, with almost flashy fig, currant paste and mocha notes that slowly give way to more loam, tar and coffee flavors. This really shows its density on the finish, with hints of Port reduction and licorice pushed by ample but ripe tannins. Best from 2010 through 2030. 1,030 cases made.
